John Gibbs is a native of Detroit, Michigan. Early in his working career, John worked as an apprentice for sculptor Eric Evans in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Pursuing his interest in fine arts, he received his B.F.A. in Sculpture and Scientific Illustration from the University of Michigan in 1998. During his time at the university, John attended summer courses at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. John then continued his studies in Florence, Italy, taking the opportunity to explore the arts in Western Europe. Upon his return to the U.S., John continued his interest in sculpture by working as a mold maker at Daedalus Art Foundry in Petersburg, Michigan.

In search of new opportunities, John moved to Chicago and began working as a production artist at a small print shop. Over the next few years, he worked his way up through the computer graphics industry to the position of Art Director at one of the top twenty advertising agencies in Chicago. During this time, John created Superduperart.com as the online partner to the Super Duper Art Company gallery in Chicago.

In September of 2005 he moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he exhibited at the Pfenninger Gallery. John also became Artist in Reisdence at Keystone Art and Culture Center, helping to start up the foundry facilities and creating sculptures.

John has exhibited his work in galleries, art exhibitions, and alternative spaces around the Chicagoland area, Louisville, KY, Lancaster, and Pittsburgh, PA, and is currently seeking gallery representation in other Mid-Atlantic Cities.
